Preliminary Screening and Selection Advisory Board Review for IRB (GIC) Members
1. Preliminary Screening Criteria
The IRB Governor in Council Secretariat Services will conduct the preliminary screening to evaluate basic requirements (Education and Experience).
Education
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized university or
- an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience
Candidates with a degree from a recognized university must have experience in working with members of diverse communities or have been exposed to different cultural perspectives and have experience in one or more of the following:
- Working in a decision-making environment; or
- Presiding at committees, hearings or meetings; or
- Implementing or interpreting legislation respecting the security or protection of persons.
Candidates without a degree from a recognized university, must have significant experience in working with members of diverse communities or in being exposed to different cultural perspectives and have experience in one or more of the following categories:
- Working in a field of human rights or with refugees or in an investigative and/or adjudicative or mediation/conflict resolution capacity; or
- Working in a decision-making environment; or
- Implementing or interpreting of legislation respecting the security or protection of persons.
2. Selection Advisory Board Review
The Selection Advisory Board, supported by a human resources consultant will meet to review the curriculum vitae and comprehensive application form of candidates. Based on criteria established by the Selection Advisory Board, a consensus will be reached on the suitability of candidates for further consideration.
